The 12-km UBC SkyTrain line will be an extension of the SkyTrain Millennium Line west of VCC-Clark station, looping to 10th Avenue, then to UBC via University Blvd. Most of the stations will be positioned near the current 99 B-Line, paralling the corridor’s most busiest bus route (and the region’s most busiest for that matter). The UBC extension will consist of 11 stations, including Finning, Main Street-Mt. Pleasant, Cambie at Broadway-City Hall, VGH-Oak, South Granville, Arbutus, Macdonald, Alma, Sasamat, Allison, and the terminus station, UBC.
While there are many different construction methods and modes for the UBC Line, the UBC SkyTrain Group believes the project should be:
- Built elevated from VCC-Clark to Finning
- Built underground from Finning to Sasamat using tunnel boring machines (TBMs)
- Built at-grade down the centre median of University Blvd.
- Built elevated from the Golf Course to UBC on University Blvd.
The detailed route plans below are conceptual, but based on the Technical Study by the City of Vancouver in 1999-2000.
